It has been quite awhile since I joined the GPP Street Team on their crusades, but I finally carved out some studio time to join in. This month Michelle Ward offered up one of my favorite ways to create a background, paint scraping.
I started with a blank page in my journal....
Added some orange and blue paint...
Used my paint scraper to move the paint around....
Then added a few words to complete my journal page for the day....
A very fun way to get messy at the studio table, thanks Michelle for the fun!
I so want to do her challenges and I never end up doing them! I love your page.

Thanks Melanie! The challenges are great fun once you get into them, but I understand that it can be hard to make the time.
Hope you can join in soon!

Jackie - nice to have you back playing with us! Love this page. Great textures. The white letters are a cool element - especially the "T". Thanks for sharing!!

wow, Jackie...this is a wonderful piece...despite the technique you're controlled the spread of colors soo well that the yellow is balanced out throughout the page....Thank you for sharing!!!

Michelle,
So glad to be crusading again. I always have such a great time once I clear the decks and get started on one of your creative adventures. Scraping is a favorite technique and I have really enjoyed seeing what the other crusaders have created.
Thanks again for bringing us all together,
Jackie

Great quote and a neat page; love the orange showing through the scrapes.

Daphne,
Scraping is my favorite way to make a quick background and it is really fun to use a variety of tools along the way. The one thing that I have learned, quite while the color is still good, otherwise a muddy mess will soon arise!!!
Thanks for stopping by,
Jackie

Cath,
Thanks, the quote was inspired by a journal entry in the Squam Journal.
I love using blue and orange together.

I love moving paint around with a scraper. It's fun AND it looks great. I especially like what you've done here Jackie.
My dog stole my paint scraper recently... But I'm sure I can find something else for the job!

Love your end result, beautiful lettering over your scraped background. Good to see how you made it with the step by step photo's.

Alex,
Thank you so much for your kind words. I agree that moving paint around with a scrapper is fun, it gives you such a great texture that you can't get with a brush. Oh my, I understand about the dog, my pup has "borrowed" a few things from the studio over the years. Cardboard also works great to move the paint and if you tear the edge you can get some fun looks as well.
Have a great week and thanks for stopping by the blog,
Jackie
